Now about this "Petroglyph":

Will you guys please take it easy. I am amazed that you found this, but I should not be surprised. With the whole world gazing at these pictures someone was bound to find something that resembled a "face".

Quite honestly this is the first time I have become fully aware of this. I have been working so hard getting the pictures out to the world that I did not have time to follow all of the press.

There is one thing that the whole world can do to make my job easier:

BE CONSERVATIVE, LOOK AT THINGS OBJECTIVELY, BE RATIONAL!

See if you can get a scientist to comment on your findings, and then put this on your web site. I think you need a fresh perspective.

However I must admit, it is an amusing assortment of random shadows.

And about us not landing on Mars:

This is just incredible; the things that people are saying about us. I can assure that we really did land on mars. I was there when Pathfinder blasted off from the Cape and I was on the Vox with the mission control room when the spacecraft landing on Mars and the first signals came back. I have been working the other 50 people on the Mars Pathfinder team for quite a while now, and I can assure you that it would be impossible to fake what I have observed.

In summary I would like to say that I am having the time of my life. I didn't go surfing today, I came back to JPL because while I was at the beach I figured out a better way to display the engineering data so that people will know when it is changing. I had to come back to code it up. It will be done and on the net in a couple of hours.

And there is one more thing you all should do, be patient.

More good things are on the way!

Sincerely,

Kirk Goodall
Mars Pathfinder Web Engineer
