What to Take camping

CAMPING EQUIPMENT - Boy Scout camping can be dirty and messy which helps make it FUN! Use camping equipment and clothing that WILL take it!

Backpack, Duffel Bag or other case for carrying personal equipment. It is not necessary to go out and buy an expensive backpack when your son joins the Troop. Wait awhile and see what other boys in the Troop use and the quality he needs will vary on what activities he attends.

Sleeping Bag (extra sleeping bag and/or blankets in the winter)

Foam Pad or Air Mattress (cot for summer camp or cabin camping)

Plastic Ground Cloth (used inside your tent for extra protection or your equipment)

Plastic Bag Containing:

Complete change of clothing:

Extra Underwear

Extra Shirt

Extra Pants or Shorts

Extra Socks (2 pr each day)

Extra Jacket (all seasons)

Winter Extra Needed:

Long Underwear (Sep through May)

Heavy Coat and Sweatshirt

Pajamas, Gym Shorts or Sweat Suit

Warm Socks

Mess Kit (plate, bowl, cup)

Flashlight with extra batteries

Boy Scout Handbook

Extra boots and/or shoes

Carry on Person or Wear:

Complete Scout Uniform including Hat

Wool Socks

Water Repellent Boots

Windbreaker or Insulated Jacket *

Gloves or mittens *

Stocking Cap *

Carry these items in your pockets:

Handkerchief

Compass

Scout Pocket Knife (with Tote ‘N Chip)

Matches (in waterproof container)

Band-Aids (2 or 3)

Wallet (Scout Registration)
